SM UC-73
SM UC-73 was a German Type UC II minelaying submarine or U-boat in the German Imperial Navy (Kaiserliche Marine) during World War I. She was commissioned on January 21, 1917.
UC-73 participated in naval warfare operations, primarily laying mines in enemy waters. These mines targeted enemy shipping, aiming to disrupt supply lines and sink warships. UC-73 operated primarily in the English Channel and around the British Isles.
During her service, UC-73 was credited with sinking a number of ships, both Allied warships and merchant vessels. The tonnage sunk by UC-boats was a significant factor in the Allied war effort to counter the U-boat threat.
On November 3, 1918, UC-73 surrendered to the British at Harwich. Following the armistice, she was transferred to France in 1919. She was subsequently broken up.
