Central District (Takab County)

The Central District (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان تکاب) is a district (bakhsh) in Takab County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 49,670, in 10,745 families. The District has one city: Takab. The District also has two rural districts (dehestan): Afshar Rural District and Keresht Rural District. The Central District encompasses the geographical heart of Takab County, and is characterized by its agricultural plains, mountainous terrain, and proximity to significant cultural and historical sites, including Takht-e Soleyman. The majority of the county's population resides within the Central District, owing to the presence of Takab city and the fertile land suitable for farming.
