Arrogance (band)
Arrogance was a Finnish progressive rock band active primarily in the 1970s. They are known for their complex compositions, instrumental prowess, and blending of progressive rock elements with jazz and classical influences. The band's lineup consisted of guitarist Jukka Tolonen, keyboardist Esa Kotilainen, bassist Heikki Virtanen, and drummer Reino Laine, all of whom were accomplished musicians in their own right.
While Arrogance did not achieve mainstream commercial success, they garnered a significant following within the Finnish progressive rock scene and are considered to be an influential act of the era. Their music is characterized by extended instrumental passages, intricate arrangements, and a focus on virtuosity. They released a limited number of albums during their active years, which are now considered collector's items among progressive rock enthusiasts. Their work often features themes of introspection and societal critique, expressed through both their music and lyrics (when present). Despite disbanding, their legacy continues to be recognized by fans and musicians alike who appreciate their unique contribution to the Finnish progressive rock landscape.
