8th (Lucknow) Cavalry Brigade

The 8th (Lucknow) Cavalry Brigade was a cavalry brigade of the British Indian Army that served during the First World War. Formed in India, it was assigned to the 1st Indian Cavalry Division in 1914 and deployed to the Western Front. Composed primarily of Indian cavalry regiments, the brigade saw action in France and Flanders. In 1916, the brigade was broken up, and its constituent regiments were reassigned to different formations. Its headquarters officially ceased to exist in October 1916. The designation "(Lucknow)" indicates the historical association of the brigade with the Lucknow area of India.
