Grand National (roller coaster)

The Grand National is a wooden roller coaster located at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in Blackpool, England. Opened in 1935, it is one of only three remaining Möbius loop roller coasters in the world, the others being Racer at Kennywood Park and Cyclone at Six Flags New England.

A Möbius loop, in roller coaster terminology, means that the ride consists of two tracks that continuously loop around each other. Instead of riding on a distinct track that returns to the starting point, riders effectively travel on both tracks, making it appear as though the two trains are racing against each other for the entire ride. At the ride's conclusion, each train returns to the station it did not originate from.

Grand National features a classic out-and-back layout with a significant amount of airtime hills and turns. The ride is known for its rough but exciting ride experience, a characteristic common in many older wooden coasters. The coaster's racing aspect is a key feature, adding to the overall thrill and competitive spirit of the ride.

Over its long history, Grand National has undergone several maintenance and refurbishment projects to ensure its continued operation and safety. Despite its age, it remains a popular attraction at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Its unique design and historical significance contribute to its status as a classic and beloved roller coaster.
