Redhead (1962 film)

Redhead, also known as Die Rote, is a 1962 West German drama film directed by Helmut Käutner. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Alfred Andersch. It tells the story of a young man named Julius, played by Gert Fröbe, who is haunted by a fleeting encounter with a mysterious woman with red hair during World War II. Julius becomes obsessed with finding her again, believing she represents a lost ideal of beauty and freedom. The film explores themes of memory, trauma, guilt, and the search for meaning in the post-war era. It was entered into the 12th Berlin International Film Festival.
