David Victor (screenwriter)

David Victor (born October 2, 1916, New York City, New York – died March 12, 1994, Pacific Palisades, California) was an American television and film writer, producer, and director, best known for his work in the action, adventure, and science fiction genres.

Victor began his career in the late 1940s, contributing scripts to radio programs and early television series. He quickly established himself as a reliable writer for anthology shows and westerns.

His breakthrough came in the 1960s with his work on several successful television series. He often served as both a writer and producer, giving him significant creative control over his projects. Some of his notable credits include The Man from U.N.C.L.E., for which he was a key writer and producer during its most popular seasons. He also contributed to shows like Dr. Kildare, Marcus Welby, M.D., and Police Story.

In the 1970s, Victor transitioned to producing and developing new series. He is credited as the creator and executive producer of the popular science fiction adventure series Gemini Man and Manimal. While these series were short-lived, they are remembered for their innovative (for the time) special effects and their focus on unusual protagonists.

Throughout his career, Victor was nominated for multiple Emmy Awards. He played a significant role in shaping the landscape of episodic television during the mid-20th century. He died of heart failure in 1994.
