Carl Williams (boxer)

Carl Williams (born June 16, 1959, in Belle Glade, Florida, died April 13, 2013, in Riviera Beach, Florida) was an American professional boxer who competed from 1982 to 1996. Nicknamed "The Truth," Williams is best known for challenging Larry Holmes for the WBC heavyweight title in 1985, losing by unanimous decision. He also faced other notable fighters, including Mike Tyson, Tim Witherspoon, and Tommy Morrison.

Williams turned professional at the age of 23 and quickly established himself as a contender. He possessed a strong jab and a durable chin. Despite lacking knockout power, he was a tough and resilient opponent. His fight against Larry Holmes, while a loss, showcased his ability to withstand punishment and compete against the very best in the division.

Later in his career, Williams' performances declined, and he accumulated a series of losses. He retired from boxing in 1996 with a professional record of 30 wins, 12 losses, and 0 draws, with 21 wins by knockout. After his boxing career, Williams struggled with personal issues. He died in 2013 at the age of 53.
