143 Adria

143 Adria is a large main-belt asteroid. It was discovered on February 23, 1875, by Johann Palisa at the Austrian Naval Observatory in Pola (now Pula, Croatia).

The asteroid is named after the Adriatic Sea, the body of water near Pola where it was discovered. Adria is classified as a C-type asteroid, indicating that it is carbonaceous in composition, and therefore likely dark in color and relatively low in albedo (reflectivity).

Measurements of Adria's size and shape have been derived from various methods, including infrared astronomical satellite (IRAS) data and occultation observations. Its diameter is estimated to be around 98 kilometers. The asteroid's rotation period is approximately 23.8 hours.

Adria is not known to be part of any major asteroid family, and little is known about its other physical properties beyond its size, composition, and rotation. As a main-belt asteroid, it orbits the Sun between Mars and Jupiter. Its orbital period is approximately 4.8 years.
