KPLR-TV
KPLR-TV, virtual channel 11 (UHF digital channel 33), is a CW-affiliated television station licensed to St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The station is owned by Nexstar Media Group. KPLR-TV's studios are located on Cole Street in Downtown St. Louis, and its transmitter is located in Shrewsbury.
Originally signing on the air in 1959 as an independent station, KPLR maintained a general entertainment format featuring classic movies, syndicated programming, and local sports coverage. The station was owned by various entities throughout its history, including broadcaster Harold Grams.
In 1995, KPLR became a charter affiliate of The WB Television Network. It remained with The WB until the network merged with UPN in 2006 to form The CW. Since then, KPLR has been affiliated with The CW.
KPLR's programming primarily consists of network programs from The CW, syndicated shows, and local news content. The station produces a local news program, News 11 This Morning, in partnership with Fox affiliate KTVI (channel 2), also owned by Nexstar. This arrangement involves sharing news resources between the two stations.
Throughout its history, KPLR-TV has been a significant broadcast outlet in the St. Louis market, providing a diverse range of programming options to viewers.
