William Sutherland (Ontario politician)

William Sutherland (born circa 1834, died 1903) was a Canadian politician. He served as a Liberal Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario representing Oxford North from 1875 to 1894.

Born in Scotland, Sutherland immigrated to Canada and settled in Zorra Township, Oxford County. He was a farmer before entering politics.

He was first elected in the 1875 Ontario general election and was re-elected in subsequent elections in 1879, 1883, 1886, 1890. He served continuously until his defeat in the 1894 Ontario general election.

Sutherland was a prominent member of the Liberal caucus during his time in the legislature and was involved in debates concerning agricultural policy and local government. He was known for his advocacy for the interests of his constituents in Oxford North.
