ARSAT-2

ARSAT-2 is a geostationary communications satellite operated by ARSAT, an Argentine state-owned telecommunications company. Launched on September 30, 2015, from French Guiana, it is positioned at 81 degrees West longitude and provides a range of telecommunications services across Argentina and neighboring countries.

ARSAT-2 provides a significant expansion of ARSAT's telecommunications infrastructure, building upon the capabilities of its predecessor, ARSAT-1. It offers services including direct-to-home television (DTH), internet access, and data transmission to homes, businesses, and institutions across Argentina. It also plays a role in supporting Argentina's national satellite plan, aiming to reduce reliance on foreign satellite services and promote national technological development.

The satellite is built on the Space Systems/Loral 1300 platform and carries Ku-band transponders. Its coverage area extends across Argentina, including the southern regions often underserved by terrestrial telecommunications infrastructure, as well as to other South American countries.
