William Lilly (congressman)

William Lilly (October 29, 1821 – December 1, 1893) was a U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania.

Born near Mauch Chunk (now Jim Thorpe), Pennsylvania, Lilly attended the common schools. He engaged in the lumber and coal business and was interested in banking. He served as a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate in 1855 and 1856.

Lilly was elected as a Republican to the Fortieth Congress (March 4, 1867 – March 3, 1869). He was not a candidate for re-election in 1868.

After his term in Congress, he resumed his former business pursuits. He served as president of the First National Bank of Mauch Chunk and of the Carbon County Railroad Company.

Lilly died in Mauch Chunk on December 1, 1893, and was interred in Evergreen Cemetery.
