HMS Comus (R43)

HMS Comus (R43) was a C-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. Built by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Greenock, she was launched on 17 July 1946 and commissioned on 21 May 1948. She was named after the mythological figure Comus.

Comus served primarily in the Home Fleet after commissioning. In 1953, she participated in the Fleet Review to celebrate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, she underwent modernization, which included the addition of improved radar and sonar equipment.

The ship was deployed to various regions during her service life, including the Mediterranean and the Far East. She participated in a number of exercises and patrols, contributing to the Royal Navy's presence and operations.

Comus was decommissioned in 1967 and subsequently sold for scrap. She arrived at Inverkeithing for breaking up in March 1967.
