Wesley (footballer, born 1992)

Wesley, full name Wesley Moraes Ferreira da Silva, (born 26 November 1992) is a Brazilian professional footballer who primarily plays as a forward.

Career:

Wesley began his professional career in Brazil, playing for Itabuna and Atlético Mineiro. He gained prominence during his time with Slovakian club AS Trenčín. Following a successful spell in Slovakia, he moved to Club Brugge in Belgium, where he further developed his reputation as a powerful and skillful striker. During his time in Belgium, he scored several important goals in both the Belgian Pro League and in European competitions.

In August 2019, Wesley signed for Aston Villa in the English Premier League. His arrival at Villa Park was met with excitement due to his goal-scoring record in Belgium and his physical presence. However, his time at Aston Villa was significantly impacted by a serious knee injury sustained in January 2020, which sidelined him for a considerable period.

Following his recovery, Wesley had loan spells to gain match fitness, including a return to Club Brugge and a move to Internacional in Brazil. He has represented Brazil at the under-23 level.
