Henry Hoare (1807–1866)
Henry Hoare (1807–1866) was a member of the Hoare banking family, prominent in British financial history. He was a partner in the private bank C. Hoare & Co, often referred to simply as Hoares Bank, a leading independent bank in the United Kingdom.
Details of his life are relatively scarce, but he was involved in the management of the bank during a period of significant economic and social change in Britain. He would have been involved in decisions regarding lending, investment, and the overall strategy of the institution. As a member of the Hoare family, he would also have participated in the social and philanthropic activities often associated with wealthy banking families in the 19th century. His specific contributions to the bank and broader community are not widely documented in readily available sources, but his role as a partner ensured his involvement in the stewardship of one of Britain's oldest banking institutions.
