Big Game (2014 film)
Big Game is a 2014 action-adventure film directed by Jalmari Helander. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson as the President of the United States and Onni Tommila as a young Finnish boy who must help him survive after Air Force One is shot down in the Finnish wilderness.
The film is a Finnish-British-German co-production. The story follows Oskari (Tommila), a 13-year-old boy undergoing a traditional Finnish coming-of-age ritual where he must survive alone in the forest for 24 hours with only a bow and arrow. Meanwhile, President James Marshall (Jackson) is traveling through Finnish airspace when Air Force One is attacked by terrorists led by a rogue Secret Service agent, Morris (Ray Stevenson).
Air Force One crashes, leaving President Marshall stranded. Oskari and the President cross paths and must work together to survive against the elements and the terrorists who are hunting them. The film features themes of bravery, friendship, and the importance of believing in oneself.
The film premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival and received mixed reviews, with praise for its action sequences and the performances of Jackson and Tommila, but criticism for its implausible plot.
