Rosemary Leach

Rosemary Leach (18 December 1935 – 5 October 2017) was a British stage, television, and film actress. She was known for her nuanced and versatile performances, often portraying middle-class English women.

Leach began her acting career in the 1960s, gaining recognition for her work on stage, including performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her breakthrough role came in the BBC television drama Germinal in 1970.

Throughout her career, Leach appeared in numerous television productions, including The Jewel in the Crown, A Room with a View, That’s Love, Life Begins, and Doc Martin. She won two BAFTA Awards for Best Actress for her roles in Life Begins (2004-2006) and Tenko (1981-1982).

In film, Leach appeared in A Room with a View (1985), That'll Be the Day (1973), Sons and Lovers (1981), The Plague Dogs (1982), and Nowhere Boy (2009). She was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in A Room with a View.
