Gustavo Benítez (footballer, born 1953)
Gustavo Benítez (born 5 February 1953) is a retired Paraguayan football player and manager.
Benítez primarily played as a defender. He represented Paraguay at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, appearing in all four of his nation's matches. At club level, he played for Olimpia Asunción in Paraguay, as well as Racing Club and Estudiantes de La Plata in Argentina. He also had a spell in Spain with Granada CF.
After retiring as a player, Benítez transitioned into management. He has managed several clubs, including Olimpia Asunción, Cerro Porteño (both in Paraguay), Racing Club, Independiente (both in Argentina), and Colo-Colo (in Chile). He is known for his tactical approach and ability to motivate players. He has won league titles in both Paraguay and Chile as a manager.
