Blu (electronic cigarette)
Blu is a brand of electronic cigarette (e-cigarette), also known as a vape. Initially launched in 2009 and owned by Lorillard Tobacco Company before being acquired by Reynolds American Inc. and later Imperial Brands, Blu products are designed to simulate the experience of smoking traditional cigarettes without burning tobacco.
Blu devices typically consist of a battery, an atomizer (heating element), and a cartridge or e-liquid reservoir containing a nicotine-based solution, flavorings, and other additives. When the user inhales, the battery powers the atomizer, which heats the e-liquid, creating a vapor that is inhaled.
Blu has offered a variety of e-cigarette models, including disposable devices, rechargeable devices with replaceable cartridges, and open-system devices where users can refill the e-liquid. Flavors have ranged from traditional tobacco and menthol to various fruit and dessert options.
Blu, like other e-cigarette brands, has been subject to regulatory scrutiny and public health concerns regarding potential health risks, marketing practices targeting youth, and its role in nicotine addiction. Regulations vary by jurisdiction, affecting aspects such as advertising, sales restrictions, and flavor restrictions.
