Cannock and Burntwood (UK Parliament constituency)

Cannock and Burntwood is a constituency in Staffordshire, England, represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Amanda Milling of the Conservative Party.

Boundaries:

The constituency covers the towns of Cannock and Burntwood, as well as surrounding villages and rural areas within the Cannock Chase district. Before 2010, the constituency was known as Cannock Chase. Boundary changes prior to the 2010 general election saw the inclusion of Burntwood, formerly part of the Lichfield constituency, leading to the name change. The 2010 redistribution aimed to create constituencies with roughly equal populations.

History:

The Cannock Chase constituency, from which Cannock and Burntwood was derived, was created in 1950. It has historically been a marginal seat, changing hands between the Labour and Conservative parties several times. The addition of Burntwood in 2010 has arguably made the seat safer for the Conservative Party.
