Cain and Abel (South Korean TV series)
Cain and Abel (카인과 아벨) is a 2009 South Korean television series starring So Ji-sub, Shin Hyun-joon, Han Ji-min, and Chae Jung-an. The series is a modern interpretation of the biblical story of Cain and Abel, exploring themes of jealousy, rivalry, and betrayal between two brothers.
The story centers around Lee Cho-in (So Ji-sub), a highly skilled doctor, and his elder half-brother, Lee Sun-woo (Shin Hyun-joon), who feels overshadowed and resentful of Cho-in's talents and the love he receives from their adoptive father. Driven by envy, Sun-woo plots to ruin Cho-in's life, leading to a series of dramatic events including framing him for a crime and leaving him for dead in the Gobi Desert.
Cho-in survives and returns to Korea, seeking answers and revenge. He becomes involved in a complex web of political intrigue and medical ethics, further complicating his relationship with Sun-woo and the women in their lives: Oh Young-ji (Han Ji-min), a woman connected to Cho-in's past, and Kim Seo-yeon (Chae Jung-an), a successful and ambitious woman who becomes entangled in the brothers' conflict.
The series blends elements of medical drama, suspense, and romance, exploring the psychological impact of familial discord and the devastating consequences of unchecked ambition and jealousy.
