Thomas Bermingham (priest)
Thomas Bermingham (dates of birth and death unknown) was an Irish Catholic priest who served as Warden of Galway and later as Bishop of Clonfert.
Bermingham's early life and ecclesiastical career are largely undocumented. He appears in historical records as Warden of Galway, a position of considerable power and influence in the city. The Warden of Galway held quasi-episcopal authority over the fourteen parishes within the town's jurisdiction.
He was appointed Bishop of Clonfert in 1490. Details of his episcopate are sparse. The diocese of Clonfert was a smaller and less influential diocese compared to others in Ireland, further contributing to the limited surviving documentation about its bishops.
Bermingham's period as Bishop of Clonfert appears to have been relatively uneventful, with no major controversies or significant events prominently recorded in historical sources. The exact duration of his tenure and the circumstances surrounding his death or resignation are currently unknown.
