Wangia (fish)

Wangia is a genus of prehistoric ray-finned fish belonging to the family Parasemionotidae. These fish existed during the Early Triassic period. Fossils of Wangia have been discovered in Madagascar. They are characterized by their relatively small size and rhomboid-shaped scales. The genus is important in understanding the early evolution and diversification of ray-finned fishes after the Permian-Triassic extinction event.
