Gjesvær
Gjesvær is a fishing village in Nordkapp Municipality, Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located on the eastern side of the island of Magerøya, about 3 kilometers southwest of the North Cape plateau.
Historically, Gjesvær has been an important fishing center for centuries, dating back to the Viking Age. Evidence suggests it was a significant trading post.
The village is now a popular starting point for birdwatching tours to the nearby Gjesværstappan islands, a protected nature reserve and important nesting site for a variety of seabirds, including puffins, gannets, and guillemots. The Gjesværstappan islands are a major tourist attraction.
Gjesvær has a small harbor, providing shelter for fishing boats and tourist vessels. The local economy relies on fishing, tourism, and services related to these industries.
