Vinje (village)

Vinje is a village in Vinje municipality, Telemark county, Norway. It is located along the Norwegian National Road 9, about 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) north of the larger village of Åmot.

The village of Vinje was historically the administrative center of the municipality. The Old Vinje Church is located in the village, and it served as the main church for the municipality for centuries. The current administrative centre of the municipality is Åmot.

The area surrounding Vinje is characterized by a landscape of rolling hills and forests. Agriculture and tourism are important parts of the local economy.
