Phil Gilbert (born 18 October 1967) is an English former professional footballer. He played as a defender, primarily at left-back.
Gilbert began his career as a trainee at Tottenham Hotspur, turning professional in October 1985. He failed to break into the first team at White Hart Lane and joined Peterborough United in January 1988. He made over 100 league appearances for Peterborough before moving to Colchester United in August 1992.
He was a regular in the Colchester United side for several seasons, contributing to their Conference title win in 1991–92, securing promotion to the Football League. He remained with Colchester until 1996, making over 150 league appearances for the club.
