VAQ-129
VAQ-129, also known as the "Vikings," is a Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) of the United States Navy. Its primary mission is to train Navy and Marine Corps pilots, Electronic Warfare Officers (EWOs), and maintenance personnel to operate and maintain the EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft. Stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington, VAQ-129 is responsible for providing initial qualification and refresher training to ensure aircrew and maintenance technicians are fully prepared for operational deployments. This training encompasses all aspects of the EA-18G Growler, including flight operations, electronic attack tactics, avionics maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures. Upon completion of their training syllabus, graduates are assigned to operational electronic attack squadrons (VAQs) within the U.S. Navy's carrier air wings and expeditionary squadrons. VAQ-129 plays a crucial role in maintaining the readiness and effectiveness of the U.S. Navy's airborne electronic warfare capabilities.
