International Communist League (Fourth Internationalist)
The International Communist League (Fourth Internationalist) (ICL (FI)), often referred to simply as the ICL, is a Trotskyist international organization. It traces its origins to the international tendency founded by James Robertson and led by the Spartacist League/U.S.
The ICL (FI) adheres to a platform of revolutionary Marxism and seeks to build Leninist-Trotskyist parties internationally. Key tenets of its ideology include: permanent revolution; defense of all gains made by workers' states, however deformed; and uncompromising opposition to Stalinism, social democracy, and reformist tendencies within the workers' movement. They advocate for the overthrow of capitalism through socialist revolution, led by a revolutionary vanguard party.
The ICL (FI) is known for its rigorous theoretical debates and its attempts to intervene in labor struggles and political movements internationally. The organization has faced internal splits and controversies throughout its history. It actively publishes theoretical journals and newspapers to propagate its views and analyze current events from a Marxist perspective.
The organization has sections and supporters in various countries around the world. These sections engage in political activity tailored to their specific national contexts, while adhering to the overall program and principles of the international organization. The ICL (FI) actively recruits new members and seeks to educate workers and youth in its revolutionary ideology.
