USS Hector (AR-7)

USS Hector (AR-7) was a Vulcan-class repair ship of the United States Navy, named for the Trojan hero Hector from Greek mythology. Commissioned in 1942, Hector provided vital repair and maintenance services to ships operating in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

Hector served extensively in forward areas, following the fleet and offering critical support to damaged or disabled vessels. This included battle damage repair, engine overhauls, and the fabrication of replacement parts. Following World War II, Hector continued to serve the Navy, providing repair services at various locations. She was decommissioned in 1973 and struck from the Naval Vessel Register.
