USS Butte (AE-27)
USS Butte (AE-27) was a Kilauea-class ammunition ship of the United States Navy. She was named for Butte County, California.
Butte was laid down on 12 April 1967 at Ingalls Shipbuilding, Pascagoula, Mississippi; launched on 16 March 1968; and commissioned on 14 March 1969.
Butte's primary mission was to provide underway replenishment of ammunition and ordnance to combatant ships at sea, allowing them to remain on station for extended periods. She served extensively in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, supporting various fleet operations and deployments.
The ship was decommissioned on 30 September 1994 and struck from the Naval Vessel Register on 16 May 2003. She was subsequently transferred to the Maritime Administration for disposal.
