Plaveč (Znojmo District)
Plaveč is a municipality and village in the Znojmo District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic.
Geography:
Plaveč is located approximately 13 kilometers (8 mi) southwest of Znojmo and 65 kilometers (40 mi) southwest of Brno. It lies in the foothills of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The municipality is situated on both sides of the Thaya (Dyje) river.
History:
The first written mention of Plaveč is from 1252.
