USCGC Greenbrier (WAGL-214)
USCGC Greenbrier (WAGL-214) was a United States Coast Guard seagoing buoy tender. She was commissioned in 1942 and decommissioned in 1972. Assigned the hull number WAGL-214, she was responsible for maintaining aids to navigation, including buoys and lighthouses, along the U.S. coastline and in navigable waters. Greenbrier also performed search and rescue operations, law enforcement duties, and icebreaking missions as needed. She was named after the Greenbrier, a coastal steamer that was captured by the Union and became USS Greenbrier. The Greenbrier (WAGL-214) served during World War II and throughout the post-war period, playing a vital role in maritime safety and security. Details regarding her specific operational history, including locations of assignment and notable incidents, are somewhat limited in readily available public records. However, her contribution as a buoy tender to the Coast Guard's mission is well established.
