Tom Buis
Tom Buis is an American agricultural policy expert and lobbyist. He is known for his extensive work on agricultural issues, particularly related to commodity markets, renewable energy, and rural economic development.
Buis has held several prominent positions in the agricultural sector. He served as president of the National Farmers Union (NFU) from 2007 to 2013, advocating for family farmers and ranchers on a national level. During his tenure, he focused on issues such as farm bill legislation, competition in agriculture, and the development of biofuels.
Prior to leading the NFU, Buis worked in government. He served as a senior staff member for Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN) for over a decade, specializing in agricultural policy. He also held positions in the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
After leaving the NFU, Buis co-founded Buis Consulting LLC, a consulting firm that provides strategic advice to agricultural organizations and companies.
