Timothy Egan (politician)
Timothy Egan (born November 11, 1836, County Kerry, Ireland – died July 10, 1908, Ashland, Wisconsin) was an American businessman and Democratic politician in Wisconsin. He served as the 11th Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin from 1891 to 1895, under Governor George Wilbur Peck.
Egan immigrated to the United States in 1848, settling in Wisconsin. He was involved in various businesses, including lumber and real estate. He held several local offices before entering state politics. He served as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly representing Ashland County in 1874 and again in 1881. He was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1884.
His term as Lieutenant Governor was marked by political debates surrounding issues such as education, labor, and temperance. After leaving office, Egan remained active in business and civic affairs in Ashland until his death.
