Thomas Yorke (1658–1716)

Thomas Yorke (1658–1716) was an English politician and landowner. He served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Richmond, Yorkshire, from 1713 until his death in 1716.

Yorke was the son of Sir John Yorke and his wife, Philadelphia Wharton. He inherited considerable estates, including Gouthwaite Hall in Nidderdale, Yorkshire, solidifying his position as a significant landowner in the region.

Details surrounding his political career beyond his single term in Parliament are scant. He likely aligned himself with the Tory interests prevalent in the north of England at the time. His death in 1716 cut short his political career. His seat in Parliament was filled by his nephew, Sir Conyers D'Arcy.

Information about his personal life, including marital status and children (if any), is limited in readily available historical records. He remains a figure of minor historical importance, primarily remembered for his brief tenure in Parliament and his connection to the Yorke family of Gouthwaite Hall.
