Philip (son of Agathocles of Pella)
Philip, son of Agathocles of Pella, was a Macedonian nobleman who lived during the late 4th and early 3rd centuries BCE. He is best known as the stepson of Ptolemy I Soter, the founder of the Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt. Agathocles of Pella was previously married to Ptolemy I's future wife, Berenice I, before Ptolemy married her. Consequently, Philip became a prominent figure within the Ptolemaic court, although not a direct heir to the throne. Information about his life and activities is relatively scarce, primarily derived from inscriptions and secondary historical sources. His position within the Ptolemaic dynasty ensured a level of influence and status, but details regarding his specific roles or achievements are limited.
