Nako Lake

Nako Lake is a high-altitude lake located in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated near the village of Nako, perched at an elevation of approximately 3,662 meters (12,014 feet) above sea level. The lake is an integral part of the Nako village's landscape and cultural identity.

The lake is relatively small and is fed by streams and snowmelt from the surrounding mountains. During winter, it typically freezes over completely. Willows and poplar trees line the banks of the lake, providing a contrast to the barren, rocky terrain that characterizes much of the surrounding high-altitude desert.

Tourism is a growing industry in Nako village, with the lake being a primary attraction. Activities such as boating and ice skating (in winter) are popular. The journey to Nako Lake involves traversing mountainous roads, often passing through challenging terrain. The roads are generally open to traffic from May to October, depending on weather conditions and snow accumulation.
