David Perry (entrepreneur)

David Perry is a British entrepreneur and video game programmer known for his work on titles such as Earthworm Jim, Disney's Aladdin, Cool Spot, and MDK. He is also recognized for his contributions to the development of online gaming and cloud-based game distribution.

Perry began his career in the UK's burgeoning video game industry in the 1980s, porting games for various platforms. He moved to the United States and joined Virgin Games, where he was involved in creating several successful titles.

In 1993, Perry founded Shiny Entertainment, which developed the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Earthworm Jim. Shiny Entertainment was later acquired by Interplay Entertainment.

After leaving Shiny Entertainment, Perry founded Gaikai, a cloud-based gaming service that streamed games to users without requiring them to download or install software. Gaikai was acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2012 and its technology was instrumental in the creation of PlayStation Now.
