Jimmy Barrett (baseball)
James Edmund "Jimmy" Barrett (December 28, 1875 – October 18, 1921) was an American professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1899 to 1909 for the Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, and Boston Doves.
Barrett was known for his strong throwing arm and aggressive baserunning. His best season was 1906 with the Detroit Tigers, where he hit .314 with 30 stolen bases. He was a key member of the Tigers teams that won three consecutive American League pennants from 1907 to 1909. In the 1907 World Series against the Chicago Cubs, Barrett hit .333, but the Tigers lost the series.
After his playing career ended, Barrett worked as a scout for several major league teams. He died in 1921 at the age of 45.
