Kaskikot

Kaskikot is a village development committee (VDC) and former rural municipality located in Kaski District, Gandaki Province, Nepal. Prior to the restructuring of local government in 2017, it was an administrative division with its own local governance structure.

Historically, Kaskikot held significance as the original seat of the Shah dynasty before they moved their capital to Gorkha. The ruins of the old Kaskikot Durbar (palace) are still present and attract visitors interested in the history of the region and the founding of the unified Nepal.

The area is primarily agricultural, with terraced farming common on the surrounding hillsides. It also offers scenic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, making it a potential destination for trekkers and those seeking cultural tourism experiences.

Following the 2017 local level elections, Kaskikot was integrated into the Pokhara Metropolitan City. Therefore, it no longer exists as an independent VDC, but remains a recognized area within the larger metropolitan region. The cultural and historical importance of Kaskikot remains.
