Thomas Clausen (educator)
Thomas Clausen is a Danish computer scientist and academic known for his contributions to the field of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), particularly in the area of routing protocols. He is a professor at the École Polytechnique in France and has held professorships at other institutions, including the University of Cergy-Pontoise.
Clausen is best recognized for his work as one of the principal designers of the Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol. OLSR is a proactive link-state routing protocol optimized for mobile ad hoc networks, aiming to provide efficient routing in dynamically changing environments. He has been actively involved in the standardization of OLSR through the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force).
Beyond OLSR, Clausen's research interests encompass a wide range of topics within mobile networking, including quality of service, security, and network management in ad hoc and mesh networks. He has authored and co-authored numerous research papers and books on these topics, contributing significantly to the body of knowledge surrounding mobile networking. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and workshops, sharing his expertise and insights with the networking research community.
