The Three Musketeers (1948 film)
The Three Musketeers is a 1948 American Technicolor adventure film directed by George Sidney, and starring Gene Kelly, Lana Turner, June Allyson, Van Heflin, Angela Lansbury, and Vincent Price. It is a cinematic adaptation of the classic 1844 novel The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas, père.
The film follows the swashbuckling adventures of d'Artagnan (Kelly), a young man who travels to Paris hoping to join the King's Musketeers. He quickly befriends Athos (Heflin), Porthos (Gig Young), and Aramis (Robert Coote) and together they find themselves embroiled in a plot involving Cardinal Richelieu (Price) and the seductive Milady de Winter (Turner), who are attempting to undermine the King and seize power.
The film is known for its elaborate sword fights, lavish costumes, and colourful cinematography. Gene Kelly's athleticism and charm brought a fresh interpretation to the role of d'Artagnan.
