Aparisyon

Aparisyon (from the Spanish "aparición," meaning appearance) is a Filipino term referring to the supernatural appearance of a being, typically a spirit, ghost, or deity. It often implies a manifestation that is unexpected, sudden, and sometimes awe-inspiring or frightening. Aparisyons are often associated with specific locations or events, and witnessing one is usually considered a significant, and potentially ominous, occurrence. The concept is deeply rooted in Philippine folklore and animistic beliefs blended with Catholic traditions brought by Spanish colonization. While often referring to ghosts of the deceased, the term can also encompass appearances of mythical creatures or religious figures, such as the Virgin Mary, and their intervention in the mortal realm.
