The Grapes (band)

The Grapes, more commonly known as The Grapes of Wrath, were a Canadian alternative rock band formed in Kelowna, British Columbia in 1983. The band relocated to Vancouver shortly after forming. They are best known for their singles "Backward Town", "Peace of Mind", and "All the Things I Wasn't."

The Grapes of Wrath comprised Kevin Kane (vocals, guitar), Tom Hooper (vocals, guitar), Chris Hooper (drums), and briefly Vincent Jones (bass) who was later replaced by Ingo Holzmann. Their sound incorporated elements of jangle-pop and folk-rock, often compared to bands like R.E.M. and The Smiths.

The band released several studio albums, including September Bowl of Green (1987), Now and Again (1989), and These Days (1991), which garnered significant radio airplay and critical acclaim. They achieved considerable commercial success in Canada during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The band broke up in the early 1990s due to internal tensions and changes in the music industry. However, they have reunited several times for performances and tours, and have released new material in more recent years. Kevin Kane has also pursued a solo career. The original lineup of Kevin Kane, Tom Hooper, and Chris Hooper have continued to perform together in reunion tours.
