The Castaways (TV series)
The Castaways was an American situation comedy that aired on ABC during the 1975-1976 television season. The series starred Bob Denver and Forrest Tucker as a pair of mismatched pilots who crash-land their battered seaplane, the "Beauty," on a deserted island in the South Pacific.
The show followed their often-comedic attempts to survive and escape the island, complicated by their bickering and contrasting personalities. Denver played Barnaby "Barnaby" Jones, a somewhat inept and cowardly character, while Tucker portrayed Buzz Klinger, a gruff and womanizing adventurer.
Despite the premise suggesting potential for adventure, the show primarily focused on situational humor and the characters' interactions. Other characters included various tourists or islanders who would occasionally appear.
The Castaways was not a ratings success and was cancelled after one season, consisting of 13 episodes. The show is often remembered for its similarities in concept to Denver's earlier, more successful series, Gilligan's Island.
