Jazz (wrestler)

Jazz is the ring name of Carlene Begnaud (born August 4, 1972), an American professional wrestler. She is best known for her time with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in the early 2000s, where she was a two-time WWE Women's Champion.

Jazz began her professional wrestling career in 1999, training under Rod Price. She signed with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) later that year, but her run was cut short due to the company's financial collapse.

In 2001, Jazz signed with WWE. She quickly rose to prominence in the women's division, establishing herself as a powerful and dominant force. Her no-nonsense attitude and aggressive wrestling style differentiated her from other female performers at the time. She defeated Trish Stratus for her first WWE Women's Championship in 2002 and held the title for several months. She later regained the championship in 2003.

Following her release from WWE in 2004, Jazz worked for several independent promotions, including Women Superstars Uncensored (WSU) and Shine Wrestling. She also made appearances for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) in 2010.

Throughout her career, Jazz was known for her hard-hitting style and her ability to connect with audiences. She is considered a pioneer for African American women in professional wrestling and a role model for aspiring female wrestlers.

Jazz continued to wrestle on the independent circuit and made appearances for Impact Wrestling as recently as 2021, retiring that year after losing a match where her career was on the line. She currently serves as a coach and mentor to younger wrestlers.
