Sweethearts (American game show)

Sweethearts was an American television game show that aired on NBC from January 8, 1987, to July 1, 1988, and in syndication from September 12, 1988, to September 1989. The show was created by Chuck Barris and hosted by Chuck Woolery for its entire run.

The game revolved around couples, typically married, who had to predict what their partner would say in response to a question. This format resembled elements of other relationship-based game shows like The Newlywed Game but with a focus on more established relationships.

Two couples competed in each game. The host would ask one member of each couple a question, and they would secretly write down their answer. Their partner would then have to guess what the original answer was. Points were awarded for correct matches. The couple with the most points at the end of the game won prizes, including a honeymoon trip.

Sweethearts aimed to offer a lighthearted and entertaining look at the dynamics within relationships, often eliciting humorous and sometimes surprising revelations about the contestants and their understanding of each other. While not as long-lasting as some other game show staples, Sweethearts occupied a place within the genre, showcasing relationship trivia and interaction.
