HMS Romney (1708)
HMS Romney was a 50-gun fourth-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched in 1708. She was built at Deptford Dockyard according to the 1706 Establishment, and served during the War of the Spanish Succession and the Anglo-Spanish War of 1727-1729. Her armament consisted primarily of 22 eighteen-pounder guns on the lower gun deck, 22 nine-pounder guns on the upper gun deck, and 6 six-pounder guns on the quarterdeck. Romney was rebuilt at Woolwich Dockyard in 1720, retaining her establishment. She was eventually broken up in 1742.
