Stork (gamer)

Stork, also known as Song Byung-gu, is a retired professional StarCraft player from South Korea. He is widely considered one of the greatest players in the history of the StarCraft: Brood War scene, renowned for his exceptionally consistent performance and strategic depth, particularly his mastery of the Protoss race.

Stork’s career spanned over a decade, during which he competed in major Korean StarCraft leagues such as the Ongamenet Starleague (OSL) and the MBCGame StarCraft League (MSL). He achieved significant success, most notably winning the 2008 Bacchus OSL, defeating Flash (Lee Young-ho) in a memorable final. He also reached multiple other finals and semifinals in both OSL and MSL tournaments, showcasing remarkable longevity and adaptability.

Known for his meticulous planning, macro-oriented playstyle, and ability to read his opponents, Stork was often nicknamed "President Toss" due to his seemingly effortless control over resources and his strategic decision-making in late-game scenarios. His Protoss-versus-Terran (PvT) matchups were particularly famous for his effective use of Dragoons and Reavers, and later, Carriers.

Following the transition to StarCraft II, Stork briefly competed in the newer game but eventually retired from professional gaming to serve his mandatory military service. After his military service, he transitioned to streaming and broadcasting, remaining a popular figure in the StarCraft community. He continues to provide commentary and analysis on StarCraft games, offering his insights based on his extensive professional experience. His legacy as one of the greatest Brood War players remains firmly established.
